to bad this dose not solve the map issue. A way to test if it is fixed is to press F12. This will pause the game the same way the map dose then you bring it upp.

Sorry but I cannot open the 3 files. I can open the Horizontal file fine but not the other 3. It sais the files are currupted and even with 7-zip they don't open.

Karmeck, the map issue can be circumvented by using the M key to open it.

That is odd. I just tested them again and I have no trouble with it. Have you downloaded all 3 files into the same directory and removed the .zip extensions? You should be able to extract is from the .7z.001 file, when all 3 parts of the archive are together. I had to split the archive into 3 pieces due to the 256k attachment limit of this forum...

Anyway, I'll just try again using another compression method. Again, download all 3 files into the same directory and remove the .zip from the end:
SilverUK_GeForce2Patch_v2.zip.001.zip -> SilverUK_GeForce2Patch_v2.zip.001
SilverUK_GeForce2Patch_v2.zip.002.zip -> SilverUK_GeForce2Patch_v2.zip.002
SilverUK_GeForce2Patch_v2.zip.003.zip -> SilverUK_GeForce2Patch_v2.zip.003
And then extract from SilverUK_GeForce2Patch_v2.zip.001 in that directory.

Ok I made it, then I patched the silver.exe with the horizontal patch file but still the games works with horizontal lines only. There is no change.
Do you have any suggestions as I really want to play this game again.

Did you change the default setting of the spare buffer pitch from 640 to 1 when patching it? That reduces the number of lines to exactly 1 at the top of your screen.

I use the same graphics card.

Did you create the .bat file I mentioned and used that to start the game? By the screenshots it looks as if you didn't.
In case not, I have attached the .bat file pre-made - just download it, remove the .zip extension, place it in your silver directory and run it from there.
It will close explorer.exe, then start silver, and restart explorer.exe after you've closed silver.

Yes I did but again I happen to have the same results. Is it a software that prevents me to get the correct colors inside the game? Maybe DirectX, we have Direct X 11 in our system if I'm not mistaken.

When I tried it I had this window open . Does this affect the coplors of this game? OK I'm going to try once more with all windows closed.

IT WORKS PERFECTLY WELL. The thing is that you cannot use any other program or even open windows explorer to search for other things or even use skype.
If I erase windows explorer and download Firefox the problem with fancy colours is going to be solved?

It's not the browser, explorer.exe is part of the windows GUI. Only microsoft can fix that, if they're so inclined. This way you can at least play the game.

You can use other programs, btw. If you started them before starting silver, and then minimized them. Just use alt+esc to minimize Silver, and then alt+tab to switch to the program you want to use. It works with firefox, and presumably other programs as well. Oh, and when you want to go back to Silver, alt+tab works for that as well.

How did you know all this sequence?
It seemed simple and Spiral House didn't do anything for this. The replied once that they don't have time to fix it and that they work on other projects now.

How long it took you to fix this?

Shame on you Spiral House. You lie and you do nothing. You see so many people asking for a fix file and you "don't have time", liers.

It's going well but there are times that the game freezes and crashes. You have to close it and start the game again from your saving point of course.
Do you have the same problem?

I had been trying to get silver to work on XP for quite a while, with no luck - that did lead to finding the geforce and line patches, though. Then I read about it working well in Vista so I tried it again in windows 7 - finding that it did work, but with the colour distortion. Google then helped me solve that, as there are apparently many games having such colour distortion, including Starcraft.

Occasionally, yes. About once every few hours, and never in the same place. I haven't figured out what causes those errors yet, and I don't expect I ever will. But it's not such a big deal. I'm at metalon now, with the game only having crashed about 5 times or so.

With my machine it crashed 5 times already and I'm at the first boss. The Huge Golden Imp.
But it'k ok. I love this game so I'm glad I have it back.
